Some things stop you in your tracks. For me, it was a market stall on the sun-soaked Greek island of Rhodes, on my honeymoon — bowls of olive wood stacked high, platters cut to follow the natural swirl of the grain, ceramic pots overflowing with carved utensils. I didn't know where to look first. I wanted to bring all of it home in my suitcase. There wasn't room.

So that summer, I taught myself how to import it, tracked down a workshop willing to help bring the idea to life, and started sharing pieces with family and friends. That became Vesper & Vine.

A quick note on what's in the shop: Vesper & Vine started with olive wood imported directly from Tunisia. But the shop has grown since that first summer. Today you'll also find pieces from a second line of wood utensils I import from Vietnam. Every listing states the wood type clearly, so you always know exactly what you're getting — but if you're ever unsure, just ask.
